Off to Baltimore!
I am blogging from the car on our way out of the city !
We are spending the weekend in Baltimore to celebrate our friends wedding. Instead of just going for the ceremony, we decided to splurge on a nice hotel in Fell's Point and stay for two nights, going back Sunday evening. This will give us the chance to hang out with old friends tonight and just relax a bit. We even have plans to see a baseball game on Sunday! I am particularly excited about that one because I have only seen 1 baseball game in my entire life so far, during a trip to DC last year. I still don't know all the rules but it seems like such a typical American experience and a great way to just spend a casual afternoon enjoying the spring sunshine and a cold beer with friends.
I'll be posting some impressions of our little getaway throughout the weekend. Hope you're all enjoying yours!

Happy Endings
Oh what a weekend it was! We spend Saturday bouncing around the park and later met with friends for a casual dinner of burgers and fries. I LOVE sweet potato fries, seriously adore them, but good, crispy, flavorful sweet potato fries are fairly hard to come by. I don't know what it is that makes them so easy to mess up, but my last few orders ended in a disappointed face. However, the Irish Pub close to our apartment, Piper's Kilt, makes hands down the best sweet potato fries I've ever had - thin, crispy, super delicious!
On Sunday we were invited to brunch at R. and L.'s apartment. Both of them love cooking and that love truly shows. We had a great brunch and went home stuffed and happy.
We originally had planned to meet with out-of-town friends to enjoy the sunshine in the park and hang out with them and their adorable baby daughter. However, we ended up whipping up some dinner for them at our house. We served them a few of our go to dishes: Baked rosemary chicken, lemon asparagus, sweet potato mash and a huge green salad.
The best part of the meal was dessert though, courtesy of a Patisserie in our friends hometown. A decadent chocolate cake decorated with macarons. This cake was every chocolate lovers dream, let me tell you. Layers of moist dark chocolate cake and velvety smooth chocolate ganache with perfectly light and crispy macarons. Our little chocolate loving hearts just jumped at the sight of it. It was so deliciously decadent and the perfect end to a great weekend.

Hayao Miyazaki Retrospective at BAM Cinémathek
If you live in NY and feel like watching a movie this weekend, you should check out the retrospective of Hayao Miyazaki films at BAM.
For the last 10 days the BAMcinémathek payed tribute to the Japanese director and founder of Studio Ghibli, who has been producing the most successful and unique Anime movies of the last 30 years.
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, is your last chance to catch one of his most iconic movies.
The schedule for today includes "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Howl's Moving Castle" before the retrospective closes tomorrow with the Oscar winning "Spirited Away", which is my personal favorite. If you have never seen a Miyazaki movie and think that Anime movies are just for kids, I strongly urge you to go and see one for yourself. They are magical, sweet, inspiring and in my opinion can't be compared to your average Disney movie.

"For nearly three decades, the films of Hayao Miyazaki and the company he founded, Studio Ghibli, have revolutionized the art of animation. Miyazaki’s indelible style—which weds the uncanniness of Lewis Carroll and the epic grandeur of Akira Kurosawa—stands as a testament to the beauty and imaginative power of hand-drawn animation, conjuring richly realized worlds replete with mystical spirits and shot through with an abiding concern for the relationship between humans and nature."

Have a great weekend!
It is pouring down rain here in NYC but that doesn't stop me from being excited about the fact that it is Friday! I am looking forward to a Saturday filled with sunshine (fingers crossed), friends and some great food.
We have a big park nearby (yes, I live in Manhattan and no, I am not talking about big ol' Central Park) and I purchased a frisbee yesterday for some fun with a side of exercise. I actually never even bought a frisbee before in my entire life and was shocked that a simple plastic plate costs 10$! This thing better be flying like a bird.
Anyways, hope you guys have some fun weekend plans and get to enjoy the fact that spring has finally decided to come around.
Have a great one!

I opened an Etsy shop!
I finally did it. After being all talk and no action the last year I finally opened my very own Etsy store! Actually, the store exists since last year but yesterday I put my first item up for sale. My shop name is "Little a Jewelry"
I sell necklaces and earrings, handmade with lots of love by me in NYC.
The pieces are created from semi precious stones, silver, vermeil gold and raw metals like copper and brass. I love these natural materials because they grow and age with you without loosing their looks. I always hated to fall in love with a cute necklace at a place like H&M or ZARA, wearing it for a few weeks only to have the cheap plating rub off and leave greenish marks on my skin. Those cheap baubles never lasted and looked worn and ugly after way too little time.
I started making my own jewelry after seeing all the handmade necklaces that young women were selling on summer street fairs here in NY. I bought some supplies and knew I wanted them to be of great quality so I chose 14 gold filled and Sterling Silver chains, real gemstones and nothing that was plated or just "gold colored".
I loved the creative outlet and made a different necklace for every day of the week, then I started giving them away to friends and family members and eventually I turned to etsy to actually sell my pieces.
So, if you are in the market for a pretty necklace (I am working on earrings too, coming soon!) please visit my shop and look around!
